Welcome to Where There is Joy! My name is Jennifer Brooke (or just Jen), and as someone who has always been an pretty happy-go-lucky person, the concept of JOY has been a fascinating one for me. What’s the difference between joy and happiness? Why are some people more joyful than others? Is it possible to feel joy when your life isn’t perfect? Where There is Joy explores the concept of choosing to life a joyful life, and intentionally seeking joy in all times and places.
I was born in Delaware but I consider myself a Jersey Girl, having moved to the state of New Jersey at the age of 3 (and except for college, I’ve lived in Jersey ever since). I grew up in the flat farmlands of South Jersey (WAY South Jersey), studied education at Bloomsburg University (PA), and currently live in the mountains of Northwest New Jersey, about 20 minutes from the beautiful Delaware Water Gap.
I am a single mom to two teenagers, J and H, who keep life exciting and busy. I am an education consultant for an ed tech company, where I get to work directly with educators as they use our technologies to meet all students’ needs. I’m an active member of my church, a Girl Scout leader, and now, a writer. I love to sing (my favorite music is anything I can sing along to) and recently I had the amazing opportunity to return to a high school passion of mine, as I starred as Donna Sheridan in a community theater production of the musical Mamma Mia!
I have a passion for life and a desire to continually choose joy, no matter the circumstances. I hope that the time you spend here helps you continue to choose joy, too!
